| Creating Editions With new technology, a model can be laser read, a computer program is then made to guide the diamond tipped carving heads to cut the stone exactly as the model. The finishing of the work must be executed by hand as the cutting heads leave a slightly ridged surface that must be hand finished. The program can be readjusted to change the scale of the stone work to a larger or smaller format. In order to offset the cost of the program, the edition should have a minimum of three. To date we have successfully produced editions but for base relief. The cost of 3-D laser readings for sculptures in the round is very high and therefore still cost prohibitive. |
