Presentation of the sculpture once finished is a consideration to keep in mind when deciding on a base or a marble plinth. The studio can assist the artist in choosing the right size and material and will create a pinning system for each specific need. Pins can range from a simple two part system to an elaborate system using ball bearings and even creating the plinth top as separate so that the top of the base turns to exhibit the work.

Once the size and material are established, an estimate is made for production costs, delivery time and shipping schedule.
A preliminary ball-park estimate can be made based on drawings or photographs with measurements. The measurements are always 3: The height, width and depth of the most external points.
Several options are available for producing a sculpture ; be it having the studio rough out a work for the artist to finish himself, entrusting the studio with the entire process or working together with the finishers in a mutual learning relationship to discover new possibilities in the work at hand.
Before the work is begun, all aspects are discussed with the artist to gain an understanding of what the artist wants to communicate with the sculpture.
Reproducing and scaling up works of art is always a collaborative process between the artist and the artisan and one based on trust and mutual comprehension. Many of the artists who work with the studio are a regular presence here during the finishing of their sculptures; creating changes together with the artisan, refining areas that were dubious to them in the model, or taking advantage of the transparency of a particular stone by carving areas thinner. Sometimes the final sculpture is significantly changed from the original model. For some artists this is an important part of the process of creating a work of art. Others instead come with a very refined model and a clear vision of exactly how they want the work produced. In both cases the artisans work from an understanding gained through their experiences of producing a vast array of works for as just as vast a range of artists.
